I plan to shoot location portraiture as part of the techniques which I will try and experiment with before developing into more creative images and pieces which build on a variety of techniques. This is so I can use them within projects at a later stage with a great amount of knowledge. For this shoot I will go out with two places in mind of where I wish to shoot. I wish to produce a selection of images with a mixture of agriculture and natural backgrounds with two models. Within this shoot I will experiment with depth of field and focal lengths.
Evaluations
I believe I have achieved my original aims which I set before I went shooting. Displaying a mixture of images and developing on my understanding. However there was only 3 images which I was happy with after seeing them on a computer, this was due to focus issues. I know that this is something I can develop and work on and I am happy to fix any lack of knowledge within my lens and focus settings. Below is two images from the shoot with evaluations.
This was one of the images which involves a natural background with colourful flowers. I like how some colour is brought to the image due to the models surroundings. For this image I used a focal length of 55mm to created a blurred background. I used the rule of thirds and placed the model within the right had third to help show the contrast of the natural outdoors and the girl. I think that this portraiture image would have been a very powerful and strong image with a harsh atmosphere if I had placed the model in a different background, However I placed the model in front of this background on purpose to create a soft tone for the image. I like how the focal point is on the model even though she is not central.
I also experimented with location portraiture and placed the model against a building to displays patterns within the background. I like how the background displays depth of field and involved some bright and neutral colours. the few bright colours used within the image help to enhance the happy atmosphere created by the expression of the girl. The model look very natural, this expresses her carefree attitude and view on life.
Progression
I like how location portraiture has enabled me to experiment with models outside. By using more interesting background compared to what is available within the studio is good and it can enhance or change the atmosphere of the image. Although I enjoyed taking images like this I do not wish to use them like this any further. I think they will be used within my shoot at some stage however I will not base a shoot on this particular technique.
