WHY I CHOSE CHEMA MADOZ
I chose this photographer due to his extensive work with surrealism and unique images. I find the pieces to test boundaries and cleverly blends images. His images cause people to have to take a second look to appreciate what has been achieved. Also a vast amount of knowledge and skills are shown within his images which is extremely inspirational for developing photographers and could positively influence my work.
EVALUATIONS
I find this image very intriguing as the smooth blend of the two images may confuse many. Many people may not notice the skeleton at first glance. In my option the way in which these are blended is very impressive. I believe a message from this image would link to the saying skeletons in your closet. This image suggests not to let the skeletons within your closet change your day. This interpretation comes from how clouds change constantly and people often have emotional change due to the weather, the tones also help to enhance this idea. Therefore the message is not to let the dark side of your passed, skeletons, change how you respond to the day. This image produces a mixture of complex ideas which is intriguing as it makes me think about complex matters and question the image.
This image has been edited to show the cloud as if it is trapped within the cage. Giving this idea of trapping nature and things we can normally not control. Two main ideas come to my mind when I look at this image. A main interpretation from this image is how all clouds are slightly unique like human beings and this particular cloud is being singled out and placed in a cage. This reflect how within today's society we single out individuals who are special or different within their abilities. This links to the next message which comes form the lack of other clouds surrounding the cage. This message is how we are reducing natural different and uniqueness in people due to the negative spotlight we place on those people who are different. Overall this image has a variety of complex ideas followed by a dark atmosphere.
The shadow of the spoon has been changed to a shadow of a fork. The concept of this image is to show how a unrealistic aspect can be shown in a way in which many people would by pass and not realise a change. Although many people may see this as a simple fun image it could be seen with a deeper meaning. This image could be interpreted that not all is how it seems, relating to the saying don't judge a book by it's cover. This particular interpretation comes from the tones and stong lighting used within this image. The way in which a small but effective alteration has been made could display how people don't notice or care enough to notice small differences. Showing how people focus more on themselves instead of trying to truly care and understand others, failing to move past the first impressions and covers people use. In this case this first cover is reflected by the spoon which hides the fork.
Water droplets have been captured in the image above and it appears that one of these have been edited to create a puzzle piece. We know that this is very unlikely to occur naturally. By editing this image very slightly it allows us to appreciate the random formation of the water droplets as well as the carefully edited puzzle piece. The contrast of shape works well here, showing how nature is inconsistent and uncontrollable. However we try to control and edit things within nature to create an idea that we like and find more fascinating. This hightails the idea that nature is complex and we shouldn't need to edit it to seem more appealing as each price of nature represents a puzzle that most people will not understand.
INFLUENCE AND SUMMARY
To summaries Chema Madoz I find his work to be very inspirational and have helped me in directing my ideas and helped me base some of my shoots fro his work. I enjoyed looking at his work and found to his images to have often have much deeper meaning then first thought. I like how this photography can slightly adjust images and create so many different ideas and messages for different people. There is not one image I can select which I can say displays Chema Masoz's influences on my work I think he has an overall positive effect on my work for this unit and has inspired me to try usual ideas and learn from the ideas which end up not working.

ReplyDeleteVery good evaluation again… Please check spelling in the Summary and also it would be good for you to develop your ideas further regarding surrealism and how you intend to produce your own photographs. You should also research the surrealism movement working with artists such as Renee Magritte and looking at the surrealist manifesto. If you want to produce images in the style of Chema Madoz, I am available to support you, We could organise a demo using a table top-set up if you bring in suitable objects…
ReplyDeleteThe analysis is very good, there are however some slight grammatical errors I have isolated two her… "I find the pieces to test boundaries and cleverly blends images." needs to be rephrased as does "This reflect how within today's society we single out individuals who are special or different within their abilities."
