Plans and expectations
For this shoot I plan to experiment with a different studio setting and expand my knowledgeable on how a studio can be adjusted and lights can be added to create different affects within an image. I wish to take strong portraiture images within this shoot. Camera settings used within this shoot is critical for producing the right images which are not overexposed.
Evaluations
The settings used to created the images shown below include a focal length of 80mm with an ISO of 200, shutter speed of 1/125 seconds and f/16. These settings used helped to create a overexposed background creating the pure white background. This allowed a clear focus on the models and enhanced the outline and features of the models.
Below is a link to an explanation of how I created these high key images and the way in which I set up the studio and camera settings to ensure successful pieces.
The image shown above has had very little adjustments in any photo editing software. A curves and levels adjustment was applied to the image to define some features and colours within the image. I like the way in which this technique has enhanced the focus on the model and shows a strong care free and fun atmosphere. I feel that this technique for this particular image worked well and it shows us that we should see a fun side and laugh about situations no matter how plain the background and how much you stand out.
I would class this image as a strong portraiture piece which displays beauty. The position of the model appears to show him as being very relaxed and calm. No harsh or bright colours are used within this image helping to maintain this calming and relaxed atmosphere. In my opinion their is no clear message being told within this image however a sense of beauty and pride is displayed. This sense of pride comes form the perfectly cut hair and way in which the model appears to be adjusting it.
Progression
I really liked this technique and how it has advanced my understanding in a variety of ways, from my camera to different studio lighting. I would use this technique in the future however maybe not for this project as I feel I have learnt from this topic and explored it and I would only continue with this if I was to work on strong portraiture or beauty. Overall I am very pleased with the images produced within this shoot and how high key images look.
