Photographer Research- Graham Owen

WHY I CHOSE GRAHMAN OWEN

I chose to research Graham Owen due to his intriguing close ups.Close ups are a technique which I hope to explore in depth and experiment with depth of field in similar ways in which this photographer has.
I hope to take many close ups as I think by looking at so many photographers I have seen how good they look and how much detail and meaning can be shown in close ups.

PHOTOS WITH EVALUATIONS

I like the detail of which he shows and how the background is slightly out of focus in this image. I think by having some areas of the background blurred it helps to enhance this close up of the insect. Displaying small detail. I think that this image shows the colour and texture of the aspects within the image well.

I really like how this image has been shown. I think the black and white effect helps to enhance the shape and texture of the flower. The small water droplets on the plant as well help to create an interesting image. I find this image to be very fascinating and have an extraordinary, dramatic feel.

The colours shown within this image are what stand out for me. I find it interesting how the focus is slightly off center however the whole image still involves similar colours. These strong blues and purple help to create a happy and bright image. I like the unique way in which this has been focused and positioning of this flower i think this helps to create these very successful image.
I like how the fake butterfly's have been used to help create a more interesting image and add some colour to the image. I think this image is fascinating as it slightly confuses me as to how the objects link however the image still works very well. The dim light bulb created an interesting lighting setting. In my option this reflects how short a life span the butterflies have, This is due to how the butterfly are darker further away from the lightbulb. The ligthbulb cold be interoperated as a representation for life. Tones have been strongly used within this image as well to create the depth and atmosphere which leaves to this interoperation of the image.

INFLUENCE

Graham Owen has an impact of the way I focus my images. The first few shoots of this project was of close ups, therefore the research which I done on him helped me to achieve an interesting focus within my images.
Below is a link to a connecting essay which shows how he has influenced my work and connects my work to his.

SUMMARIES

To summaries this photography I would say he produces extraordinary close ups which are very interesting and I  incorporated close ups quite a lot in my work. I think his work has helped me to understand where a focus would look well and how something so simple can be shown in a very interesting way if done correct.
