WHY I CHOSE ANNIE LEIBOVITZ
Annie leibovitz is an extraordinary portraiture and fashion photographer who has explored with some fantasy and surrealism ideas recently with some popular celebrities as her models. I mainly chose this photographer due to the selection of fantasy and fairy tale photographer which I found during research. I feel that by studying her work it may help me learn from help her most know portraits and her more unusual pieces which express a creative side of Annie Leibovitz.
PHOTOS AND EVALUATIONS
I like how in this image it appears that the model has been placed in an usual surrounding to create this Alice in wonderland affect. I find her pieces like this to be extremely interesting as they show a creative side filled with imagination and child like thoughts. By using commonly know models it attracted people attention and bring them to the public's eyes more. The house which the model is placed in if filled with dull colours, this contrast which the bright blue dress of the girl which is draped across the room. This blue colour along with the positioning of the model helps to ensure she stands out and is the main focal point of the image.
This is another example of one of her fair tales pieces. This image represents the story Rapunzel and anyone who knows this story with have a slight background to the image. The images clearly represent this idea and particular fairy-tale due to the models expression. The look of desire for more within her life is shown from the model and enhanced by the angle which the image is taken.
I like how this image has been edited to create a more dramatic effort. As well as portraying a strong and powerful women with a man in the background distanced from her. The posture and positioning of the models help to display this idea of power. I like how the man has been added into the image and there is a transition which works well and doesn't seem fake.
I decide to include some of her more common work as this could also beneficial for my project, I like how these two selected portraiture photos have been captured. The dramatic and strong emotion would not normally be seen in real life however she has captured this with her camera. I would like to explore this area of photography and add to my skills within the studio and be able to use lighting in a way which produce an interesting concept of depth.
INFLUENCE AND SUMMARY
Overall I think Annie Leibovitz is a very interesting and inspirational photographer. Although I did not create images similar to her fairy tale work I did use some of her powerful portraiture as inspiration when I was shooting for my multiple imaginary.
